‘Nary a Complex Carb

So, I’ve decided to follow the Sacred Heart Diet for a week.

It’s not really a legitimate diet at all, actually. It’s totally a fad diet. Just about every hospital anywhere in the world with the words sacred or heart in its name has disavowed this diet.

But I needed to get some discipline back and this seemed like it might help. If you wanna know more about my reasons, or the diet itself, check out my last post on Losing It at urbanmoms.ca.

So…all day yesterday I ate nothing but fruit. Except bananas. You’re not allowed bananas on your fruit day. So of course, I really, really wanted bananas! And all day today, I ate nothing but vegetables.

Today was haaaard.

Because you don’t get to have a nice big cobb salad with ham, boiled egg, cheese and creamy dressing. Noooo…just vegetables. Plain, unadorned vegetables. And your “treat” is a potato.

Interestingly, though, if you take my food intake today and measure it up by Weight Watchers standards, I didn’t do too badly.

2 avocadoes = 16 points, 4 servings of vegetables
1 green pepper = 0 points, 2 servings of vegetables
1 tomato (raw) = 0 points, 1 serving of vegetables
2 carrots (raw) = 2 points, 2 servings of vegetables
1 small potato (shredded & cooked) = 2 points
1/2 onion (cooked) = 1 point, 1 serving of vegetables
olive oil (for cooking potato & onion) = 2 points

So, all told, that’s 21 points (just 1 shy of my daily recommended points total) plus at least 12 servings of vegetables. Plus my 2 required essential oil servings. Not a bad day at all.

And tomorrow I get to eat fruits along with my vegetables! I’m going to put mandarin orange slices on my spinach salad! Woo hoo!

  1. I am starting mu second week of the Sacred Heart Diet. It is the only diet I’ve ever bewen able to do and I lost 12 pounds on the first week. I figure anytime you’re eating all the fruit and vegetables you want (practically) and squeezing in a little meat, how can you go wrong with that.

  2. I am on day 1 of the diet today.
I have done it in the past (some years ago) and at that time I had lost about 45 lbs the old fashioned way (exercise, diet,etc.). I stayed on the diet for about a month — the first 2 weeks strictly. I lost about 14 lbs total. It did not come back.

I had twins last year and have gainined additional weight. Right now I want to jumpstart my weight loss and hope to stay on it a couple of weeks or so. Good luck all.

  3. Hey Maya, good luck on the diet. If you like the experience of cleansing you should check out Isagenix. It’s much more scientific, easy to follow and – most importantly – gives great results!
