Oh, the Pain of a Man in Pain

The hubster is in a bad way.

Really, the poor man’s foot is HORRIBLE. He has a terrible, disgusting, oozing infection that started in his baby toe and has migrated to the toe next door. I’ll give the man his dues…that thing is NASTY and he has been a trooper.

But still. Is there anything more trying than a man in pain? (Okay, other than a man with a cold, I mean.)

Today, FINALLY, after a week of walking on the foot of death, I forcibly confined him to our hotel room and I think we may actually have the thing under control, after performing self-inflicted surgery on a blister that was bigger than his baby toe (and I am not exaggerating!)

I am taking this family to the Tower of London on Wednesday come hell or high water, so that damn foot had better be better by then!

  2. Oh, Kat. Some of the photos on your travel blog look like postcards that you have pasted photos of the girls into. Can I tell you that I am desperately jealous with every fiber of my stone pitted heart? (I believe that is a mixed metaphor, but you get my point.)

I am sure I should know, but how old are your kiddies? Because I am thinking that if you can take YOUR littles on a European vacation, then why can’t I? You know. With my own kids. In like 7 years. Maybe? :)

  3. Icky. I have to say though that some sick part of me wanted to actually see the infected part oozing and red. I truly have a problem. Excuse me will I go and watch an episode of Operation.

  4. Misty, thanks for the perspective :) Oh, and Girl1 is nearly 8 and Girl2 is 5. I would likely have preferred to leave the trip for another year or 2 but the whole point of going to Estonia was to inter the ashes of my MIL’s mom, who was also Estonian and wanted to be buried there. She wanted the trip to be a chance for all her offspring to discover their heritage, and I was just lucky to be able to tag along! But honestly, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. The kids have been truly amazing. And it’s great to see things through their eyes, too.

Jen, it was weirdly satisfying in a “can I pop your back zits” kinda way!

  5. Dave:

The Simmons factory in Brampton was shut down after a 3 week strike and all 120 (?) employees fired. Production is being transferred to Calgary and some place in the US. I saw this today in the Globe & Mail.

Other than that the pictures look lovely. Hope your foot improves

    Dave
